When I heard that a long time collaborator was opening a new business, I couldn't just stand by and let him start it without proper branding. Therapy Coffee Roasters is an original coffe spot in Kincumber, Australia. Together with Evan, the owner, we built it from the ground up. I was responsible for developing the brand's full identity and making sure it's ready to not only open up physically, but enter the digital world with a unique logo, strong visual strategy and attention-grabbing content.
A coffee shop offers countless opportunities for branding, but we began with the most essential element: the logo. it was supposed to be monochromatic like coffee, characteristic like an exotic brand and stand out from the crowd like your favourite brew. The final design combines a bold, modern typeface with a custom-made icon that reinforces the brand’s personality. This flexible system allows the logo to make an impact both in its full form and as a simplified mark—perfect for everything from signage, through social media avatars to packaging design.
Therapy Coffe Roasters' new visual identity blended perfectly with the style of the place and the spirit of the staff. The branding groundwork I provided gave them a solid understanding to confidently apply it themselves, which helped enhance the appeal of the café. The style, font and colour choices adapted well to various formats - in digital and printed formats, as well as... home made media prepared by the inventive staff.
My work wasn't limited to static formats. Examples of videos produced for Therapy Coffe Roasters include a dynamic short made to be included as an intro or outro of any video. To ensure this flexibility, I provided multiple versions with all possible camera movements so that the short can be matched with camera movement of the main material - in both horizontal and vertical formats. The example provided here is for an intro, with a little quirky detail at the beginning of panning up from the floor. A couple of calls from lost potential clients later, we noticed the need of producing a video that would clearly explain the venue's location. With the help of a quick local drone video shoot, an animated map was born - including the breathtaking shot of Kincumber's landscape and motion tracked reference points.
